Reinventing the Wall Label

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) ranks among the leading art institutions in the country. One of the museum's most notable spaces is the Center for Creative Connections (C3) an innovative and forward looking exhibition and educational space. This 10,000 foot space, centrally located in the Museum's first floor, offers opportunities for the visitor to experience the collection in new and engaging ways. Established in 2008 the C3 was renovated and reopened in 2010.

The inaugural exhibition, Encountering Space, explored "how space is used by artists to create depth, dimension, and meaning." To support the educational and experiential mandate of the exhibition, the DMA called on Bluecadet to re-imagine the traditional wall label. To this end, Bluecadet produced 10 highly-tailored video labels.

Each label was crafted to enhance the visitor experience. The length of each video, its pace and content was carefully considered to coordinate with how these videos would sit in the space and interplay with the artwork. Bluecadet worked closely with the DMA's education and curatorial staff to ensure that the motion graphic treatments enhanced the visitors' sense of the work and provided a cohesive and fluid experience.
